Krikit I and Krikit II belt tension gauges
Easy-to-use tensioning tools
Proper belt tension is of the utmost importance for belt drive performance and service life. Measuring the tension with a gauge is a good way to prevent belt drive problems.
Two of the lower cost options that Gates offers to check belt tension are the Gates Krikit I V-belt tension gauge and Krikit II Micro-V® belt tension gauge. Both are used on front end auxiliary or accessory drives, but they come in different capacities for measuring tension:
Krikit I is suitable for V-belts and narrower multi-ribbed belts (3-4 ribs): 30 to 160 lbs or 15 to 75 kg;
Krikit II is specially designed for measuring the higher tensions which are required by multi-ribbed belts used on passenger cars, trucks and buses: 100 to 320 lbs or 50 to 150 kg.
- Effective, lower cost tool
- Easy to use
- Average tension values are enclosed
Tip: The tension of Micro-V® multi-ribbed belts can be tested much more precisely using the Gates STT-1 sonic tension tester
