EcoBoost is an engine range brand - manufactured by The Ford Motor Company, relating to a range of turbocharged, direct fuel injection - petrol engines designed to deliver greater horsepower and torque, whilst also providing greater fuel efficiency and therefore reducing exhaust tailpipe CO² emissions, all resulting with the EcoBoost engine range winning several awards including international engine of the year. First produced in 2009, the EcoBoost range of engines is available in a vast selection of Ford vehicles, ranging from 1.0 liter up to 3.5 liter.
This article will focus on the 1.0 litre Ford EcoBoost engine version, which utilizes a wet timing drive system, meaning the timing belt operates within an oil environment. Therefore, it is crucial to keep up to date with the O.E.M servicing and maintenance intervals for vehicle applications utilizing wet timing drive systems also known as Belt-In-Oil timing drive systems. It is also highly recommended that the engine oil be replaced with the correct O.E.M specified oil and the correct O.E.M specified oil filter to aid the service life of the wet timing drive systems components.
